Our Connection Centre vision is to see all people passionate about Jesus; living free as Spirit-led sons of God; connected into intimate relationship with Him and community; and participating in the gospel of the kingdom as they live out their unique destiny from God. (This vision is reflected in the 3 words that form part of our logo.) We want to see the local church become the first “port-of-call” for the physically and mentally ill seeking help. In ministering to these seekers, we want to offer a service that is perceived as effective and reputable by other health professionals; and to cultivate teamwork between us.
Everything we do and develop at Connection Centre, whether it’s the actual ministering to people or the behind-the-scenes administration, can be traced back to core beliefs we hold:
God is good
God is stupendously good. His primary revelation of himself is as the creator who made all things “good” and who is unrelenting in his mission to restore this world from brokenness to his intended blessing. When God’s goodness is temporarily clouded by our personal pain and suffering, we are reminded just how great that goodness is by the cross of Jesus Christ, which is the unwavering measure of the value he has placed upon us, and the lengths he will go to for our redemption. So much of our healing depends on our ability to trust God – if He can’t be trusted, we can’t access the grace he wants to give us. Often healing starts when we are able to reframe the picture we have – of Father God especially – as a kind and loving Father who gave everything and witholds nothing.
Jesus is the saviour and healer
By his death on the cross and resurrection, Jesus attained our salvation and healing. This finished work is now applied by Holy Spirit to our own sinful state and the wounds inflicted on us through the sins of others.
Every person has sinned and is wounded
Without a relationship with Jesus, we live unreconciled or “disconnected” from our Father God. We also continue to live in a fallen world with other sinful people who wound us.
Healing is for everyone
It is a gift available to every person that is not earned by good behaviour or for Christians only.
Jesus can heal anything
He can heal mental, emotional, spiritual or physical wounds. He came to give, not just life, but abundant life. He does more than we expect or deserve!
Every person is a unique individual
Our unique past and unique destiny require a unique journey with him for our healing. Whilst the gospel is the only enduring answer to our every need, it cannot be applied formulaically. We honour this uniqueness by sensitively cooperating with Holy Spirit to know how he wants to connect with, and heal, each individual.
He heals in many different and unexpected ways
He knows what’s best and needed. Sometimes he heals something other than the presenting problem, through a number of ways and according to different time periods from instant to progressively.
