What is ‘Love Your Life’counseling?
Counseling is a process of walking alongside people who are confused, discouraged and disempowered to help them find the courage to grow, the faith to approach God, the confidence to tackle their issues, a belief in their own worth and peace in their present circumstances.
How does this differ from a connect session?
Sometimes people who are struggling want to connect with God but find the prospect of prayer ministry scary or daunting. They are not ready to take down the walls between themselves and God because they fear that God will overwhelm them. Sometimes they just need to talk through some things with an empathic human being. Sometimes they have experienced prayer ministry already and want to learn some new skills or consolidate the gains they have made.
The Holy Spirit is able to break into people’s lives at any time and change/empower them through a dramatic encounter with the presence and person of Jesus and connect or re-connect them with their heavenly Father. However, he also seems willing to be the Paraclete – the “counsellor” who walks alongside a person in their current journey. This is a humble, often less directive role, which gives a huge measure of respect and dignity to the person – allowing them to walk at their own pace, to discover things for themselves and to make their own decisions from a liberated will.
